Historical Background
Claus Eggers Sørensen received financial support from Google Web Fonts on May, 2011 to design a typeface family. That's how Playfair Display, a transitional design with an extra large x-height and short descenders, was born. This font is specially well-suited for titling and headers.

About the Designer
Claus Eggers Sørensen was born in 1973 in Denmark. He is a typeface designer who received his Bachelor Degree from The Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, and his MA Typeface Design at The University of Reading, Department of Typography & Graphic Communication. He has a background in graphic design and commercial art direction.
